2015 Closure Statement:
Dear supporters of the Lee Wright Synergy Dance World Memorial Trust,
When the Trust application was started back in 2010, there were many things that we set out to achieve:
• To enable Lee’s positive attitude to life to benefit others
• To allow the dance skills that he knew and the dance that he enjoyed, also to be enjoyed by those who wouldn’t normally have access to dance
• To set up a positive focus with which to channel energy for those who were touched by the experience of knowing, meeting or hearing about Lee.
We are happy to be able to say that all of these aims have been achieved. Due to other responsibilities and pursuits in our lives, as trustees, we announced in 2015 that we would be closing the trust.
The remaining funds and goods have gone to 3 carefully chosen charities, full details of which are on the 'Funded Projects' page.
On behalf of the Trust and from each of us personally, we would like to say an enormous thank you to all the fantastic people who over the course of many years, have generously contributed their time, energy and donations to the Trust. With your support, the Trust has made Salsa dance accessible to a huge range of participants, including to name a few, adults recovering from addiction, students with autism and young children with the huge responsibility of caring for others. Thank you also to the brilliant teachers who have made a real difference by introducing salsa in a fun, enjoyable and inspiring way. Because of all of you, the Trust has brought each of the wonderful positives of Salsa into people’s lives.
Finally, we would like to say that with or without the Trust, Lee Wright, both the person AND the dancer, will of course never cease to be an inspiration!
The initial funds for Lee’s Trust were raised in January 2009 at Lee’s Tribute, a fundraising event in central London which brought together the entire UK salsa community to celebrate his life. Tragically, Lee died at the age of 24, as an innocent passenger in a car accident.
Lee Wright, 'UK Salsa dance Champion', had a successful career for over 7 years, teaching and performing salsa dancing in the UK and internationally. He was an inspiration to dancers for his skills in dancing, teaching and performing, but also a fun and loveable person to be around, full of energy and positivity. The charity therefore always works to promote and commemorate Lee's positive attitude to dance, to learning and to life, hence the charity motto: "Live a lot! Dance a lot!"

DANCE GIVES BACK!
In 'Dance Today', magazine, Marianka Swain reported on 'the outstanding charitable work of three organisations.'
The magazine article reflected just a few of the many organisations that provide some wonderful dance opportunities to so many people. The story closes with the Trust's moto which is what it's all about! - encouraging and allowing as many people as possible to Live a lot and Dance a lot!
